We spent all day Saturday, stripping off the wallpaper in the living room and the main bedroom. Loving the hard work, the aches and pains, the tea breaks and the silence.
Wow, you’re really going hard at it! I remember rennovating our first home and falling into bed at night wonderfully exhausted. It’s the best feeling when you can walk through at the end (although it never really ends) and admire all of your hard work and know it’s your energy and creativity that’s created your home.
Yes! That sounds very familiar. I wake up quite sore and wonderfully rested after a nights sleep (all that physical labor!) – then it’s back to the house and more work with a thermos of tea and packed sandwiches.
Oh I’m so envious. I would love to be able to do all of this Turid. Too long we’ve dreamt of owning our own little patch. Enjoy every exhausting moment of it…it’s going to be amazing.
I hope you will get your own patch one day, Brydie. Being a home owner has put the fear of God in us though, and there’s no more eating out and buying expensive olives and cheeses from our favourite shop. I made bean burgers for the fist time yesterday. Do you know what I mean? (They were really yummy, thank heavens) Having said that – even though it’s a financial burden, it’s also our first home and it feels very different than renting. It’s Ours. And yesterday, as we were working in the house, our neighbour came over to invite us over for wine and cake. I almost got teary eyed, as I felt I belonged to a community for the first time. That’s what owning feels like now. Scary and wonderful at the same time.
