I’ve already planned the garden. I know what to do and where I want it to go. My favourite roses, Abraham Darby and Gertrude Jekyll will naturally find their place, together with the cat mint, lambs ear, nasturtiums, poppies, corn flowers and lupines. I’m going completely Monet. As this is my first garden in the UK, I’m going to embrace the English Cottage Garden style completely, until it engulfs me and swallows me whole. I’m thinking out loud of a clematis by the front door, and pots and pots of pelargonium.
Here are some of the images that haunt me:

I think there must be a lot of fairies getting very excited over there!
Yes! And hopefully lots of honeybees and perhaps a hedgehog or two…
Well in my experience to plan is really to make a list of plants you love so clearly you have this process in hand. I do wish you a hedgehog. I would trade ALL our raccoons and two hummingbirds for a garden hedgehog.
Hi I’m new to WordPress, was looking for other Cardiff bloggers and came across your blog. What a gorgeous new house! Where have you researched your plants/ flowers? I have 2 big flower beds to fill in my clean slate of a garden but have no idea where to start :/
Hi! The plants I have chosen, I’ve got a special relationship to. When I lived in Italy I had a large vegetable garden where I could experiment widely. I learned about combinations, planting and pruning from an English gardener, so I’m confident that the same combinations will work here. Not everything I grew in Italy will grow here, but most. I am excited!
Thanks for stopping by.

Sounds beautiful, looking forward to seeing the results
Yes I can see why those images would stick with you! So lovely! Reminds me of going to Beatrix Potter’s house years ago in the lake district. So charming it’s like stepping into a story book! Makes me want a yard.
I want to create a secret garden almost. A place where you’ll be completely surrounded by plants and buzzing life (and fairies of course..) Like a story book.
